Plant Ransom

For about a week the Ewoks have been reading a book called Plant Ransom. Here is a summary of what were my favourite parts of the book.

Mandy's garden

This is a super hero from Mandy's garden. I choose a super hero because I like drawing super heroes. The thing I like the most about their production was: when the super heroes were flying around. Also the snails.

I’m playing hockey, scoring a goal for the woman Black sticks team.  

Next thing I know I am gasping for breath sitting up in my bed wide awake. I don’t know what to do next? I frantically wake up twin sister Olivia, shaking her like the Christchurch earthquake.  

Then I realise it is morning, I need to get ready for Hockey, it’s Saturday.
I get ready:

1. Shin pads: On
2. Socks: On
3. Mouth guard: In bag
4. Drink bottle : In bag
5. Snack : In bag
6. Uniform : On
7. Hair tied up in a bun : Yes
8. Hockey stick : In bag
9. Hockey Ball : In bag
10. Shoes : On

Great I am already!

Now I am traveling in the car to Hockey. I feel like a real hockey player, but I am not.

Next I am at hockey I have to warm an up so I do, : dribbling the ball keeping it on my stick.

Now I am playing the game keeping everything else that is happening around me out of my head. I ended up putting in 4 out of the 6 goals. Great teamwork.

When I grow up I want to be in the woman Black stick team. But I will have to train hard!

ABC Bull Rush with room 20

This week my class room 20  were playing ABC Bull Rush. I was the one who recorded it. I made funny animations to the movie. I want to say thanks to Mr Moriarty for letting me record this. Also room 20 for playing. Brody  was a great star in the movie! I hope you enjoy.

Buddy

Dear V.M Jones

Your book “Buddy” was outstanding and very touching. I couldn’t wait for my teacher Mr Moriarty to read it and finish it. We read it mostly every day. The thing I liked the best was when Josh was playing all the sport because I myself love playing sport. I also love that he chose his brother over winning the triathlon. My favourite chapter was the Dream. It was very touching because it was said and I think you put it in at the right time. I also love this book because I have a twin sister her name is Olivia, so I can connect to this story. I would hate that to happen to Olivia that would be painful I would cry for days. What would you do if you had a twin and that happened?

Multiplication Strategies

· Something I was pleased with was… Fractions 

  because… I kind of forgot about them.

· I really enjoyed learning… Learning about decimals.

Because… I have always wanted to learn about them. They're a great skill in life.

· Something I found hard was… When Mr Moriarty does a game before maths around the world fractions.

Something that made me think was… Having to learn the things about fractions.

because… It was hard.

· Something I want to get better at is… Getting faster answering them. What can I do about it?) Practice.

More Playgrounds are needed

Dear Hastings District Council 


I think Hastings needs more playgrounds. Well to start off with, Napier has lots more playgrounds than Hastings. Like that big playground in Napier that is on Marine Parade and the one by the Napier Port.


Also little kids are going on the playgrounds where big kids want to play on because that piece of equipment is challenging more than the other equipment on the playground. So we should get other equipment that is for more challenging for the older kids.




Reason 2
The playgrounds are far too small. They get crowded and people want to go on the same thing. But I have got a solution for that.  You get two playgrounds one for 10 years and over and then the other one people under 10, simple then if that does not work will get more pieces of the same equipment.


Reason 3
Not enough equipment on the playground. Come on a slide, swings and a climbing wall is not enough. People will not go and play on the playground if it is that borring. More like lots of equipment will make it more fun because the children will not be able to choose what to play on and will spend more time at the playground. 


So what are you waiting for, build more playgrounds, get more equipment and build build build for the children of Hastings!

Summary
Michael was at home watching television while eating brownies. While a spider was climbing down its thread. Then Michael gets the spider and dropped it in a glass of water. Then he went to bed and the next day went horribly bad for Michael. Six spiders appeared and performed a strange dance around the dead spider. Then at school Michael ate lunch by himself. When Michael got home from school he discovered spiders webs everywhere. Next the spiders front legs began stamping. Michael's Mum woke him up from his dream. Then asked him questions about his day at school. Then when he saw any spiders he did not do anything to them!

Why can I not go to Wellington

I would love to go to Wellington. I always have wanted to. I’ll give you reasons why. Well to start off with, it is the capital of New Zealand right? That’s since I can remember, well I think since I was born actually.

Secondly my Mum, Dad, sister Georgia has been with a school trip I think it is Olivia my twin sister and I turn. Well I guess Mum and Dad don’t take it too seriously because I have spoken to them I don’t know how many times that I would like to go to Wellington the capital of New Zealand. But it they don’t even care. But this is a very serious matter. I need them to let me go. But how?.

The very next day I come up with this glorious plan I can explain what I can do in Wellington

1. Te Papa Museum
2. The bee hive
3. Parliament

But I am missing something very important going SHOPPING. Going shopping in Wellington looks like lots of fun lots of fun but of cause the money. Mum and Dad always saying “sorry too much money” or it is too expensive. So I guess it will be a NO!

WALT Persuade

Dear Room 20

Going to school with food wrapped up is a bad idea.

I think we use too much plastic with wrapping food for school.

We can help it by having a lunch box, because then you do not have to wrap up your food and  you are saving money by not having to buy glad wrap or tin foil.

Another reason is you drop litter  and it will drift with the wind into other things such as animals homes, it can travel to other countries it could even travel all the way to pacific trash vortex. Then that can harm more and more people and especially animals.

Do you want that to happen to the world, a world full of rubbish? This would be a disaster waiting to be happen the whole world would be full of landfills and people don’t even care.

Come on people save the world. Plastic floating around would be unbearable. Other thing is we can have litter monitors it pick up the rubbish. But that would not good because then I think then people would just drop it on purposes.

Come on people do not be a litterbug. WE don’t want the our school to be like the pacific trash vortex.
